At Zoharim Youth Village, resilience, brotherhood, and remembrance are deeply woven into the fabric of the community. This year, the youth village held its second memorial run – a powerful and emotional event in honour of Israel’s fallen heroes since the outbreak of the Sword of Iron War on 7th October.

Students and alumni ran side by side, each stride a tribute to the brave soldiers and volunteers who gave their lives so that others could live in safety and freedom. This wasn’t just a run – it was an act of remembrance, a declaration of gratitude, and a symbol of unity. The names of those who fell were honoured with every heartbeat, every breath, and every footstep along the way.

One of the most moving moments of the day came as Howie and Marcy Oster shared the story of their beloved son, Amichai Israel, a 24-year-old hero who lost his life on 1st January 2024 in fierce battle in Northern Gaza. Their courage in sharing his story and the deep love they expressed for him reminded everyone of the very real sacrifices made by families across Israel.

This run is more than just a tradition – it is a commitment. A commitment to never forget. To honour the fallen not just in words, but in action. To ensure that the memory of each and every one of these heroes lives on in the hearts of future generations.

May their memories be a blessing. May their bravery never be forgotten. And may we continue to run — for them, because of them, and with them in our hearts.
