“Sulamot” Project

Sulamot gives some of Israel’s most vulnerable children the chance to learn classical instruments and perform in a school orchestra. Through music, students gain confidence, teamwork skills, and a sense of belonging that reshapes their futures. Your support brings the transformative power of music to children who would otherwise never have this opportunity.

Made up of 5th and 6th graders from the Machshava Elementary School, students who participate in this unique programme practice daily and have lessons taught both privately and in small groups throughout the week. The orchestra consists of flutes, clarinets, oboes, alto and tenor saxophones, trumpets, trombones, tubas, French and baritone horns, as well as various percussion instruments.

Each year, children participating in the Sulamot Ohr Channa Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra Project perform in front of a live audience as part of the school’s end of the year performance. They also get to perform in a unique concert in Tel Aviv that is dedicated to schools participating in similar programmes. In 2013, three girls from the 6th grade competed in the first ever Ruth Lewis International Clarinet Competition in Tel Aviv and took home the 3rd prize!
